Health Insurance
A few points about health insurance coverage are noted below. If you have questions, you may contact your current health insurance provider in the U.S. or your EWC program coordinator.
- International visitors who are in the U.S. on a J-1 visa are all required to have a minimum level of health insurance coverage. See the “Insurance” section of the EWC J-1 Visitor webpage for complete information.
Dental Care
You’re encouraged to take care of your dental health before coming to the U.S. since the dental services here tend to be very expensive. Your health insurance, if paid for by the East-West Center, does not include dental care. You may upgrade your health insurance plan to cover dental care at your own expense.
For more information on medical and dental needs and recommended services, please see Medical & Dental Resources (doc).
